Hopefully not Sleepless in Seattle

With plenty of hotels to choose from, these two hotels seem to be our go-to places to stay...

Hotel Theodore

1531 7th Avenue Seattle, Washington 98101

On our first trip to Seattle, we stayed at two different hotels, the Warwick Seattle the day before our cruise and The Roosevelt Hotel after the cruise ended. You can't go wrong with either of these hotels. They are both located in Downtown Seattle, within walking distance to Pikes Market and it is super easy to get a cab for the short ride to the Port of Seattle if you are going on a cruise. We decided that for this first leg of the trip, we would stay at the Hotel Theodore, which is the post-renovation name of the former Roosevelt Hotel. Just to give you an idea of our trip itinerary since we were visiting both Seattle and Vancouver, here it was:

  • 12/23 through 12/26 at the Hotel Theodore

  • Check out the morning of the 26th and rent a car to drive to Vancouver.

  • 12/26 through 12/30 stay in Vancouver, British Columbia

  • 12/30 return to Seattle, Check into the Warwick Seattle, return the rental car

  • Fly home to Orlando on 12/31

In case you are wondering why we were staying in a different hotel upon our return to Seattle, it is because the Hotel Theodore was already booked for the New Years Weekend. I was able to get a very reasonable rate with advance purchase for the Warwick for Dec. 30th and since we were familiar with the location and the quality of the rooms, it was a no brainer.

The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and clean and although the bathroom is a little small and there is no closet or dresser space to really unpack, its location makes up for those misses. It was a nice place to stay over the Christmas break.

Warwick Seattle

401 Lenora Street Seattle, Washington

Upon our return to Seattle on December 30th, we checked into the Warwick Seattle. Our room was around $217 for the night (taxes included) which is very reasonable for Seattle, especially for the holidays. Current rate for the same time frame as I write this is around $184 a night, plus tax. Great location close to Pike Place Market, with their own restaurant, Margaux located downstairs, the Warwick also has an onsite indoor pool and fitness center.

We've stayed here twice and would stay here again in a heartbeat. With their new frequent guest rewards program "Warwick Journeys", I'll be sure to sign up because with our Alaskan Cruise coming up next year, we'll probably be staying there again!

About the Joy Family

We're not a normal family. In fact, we're downright goofy, with just a touch of nerdy (well, maybe a lot of nerdy at times)...but we're fun, we care very much for one another and we LOVE to travel.
